The First and Last Narrow Gauge Beyer Garratts

Today's Snowdonia has a first and last theme. The stage from Porthmadog to Caernarfon and return is being hauled by K1, the first locomotive to by built to Herbert Garratt's newly granted patent at the Gorton works of Beyer Peacock in 1909. The second locomotive, 143, is an NG/G16 was the last Beyer-Garratt and the last steam engine to be built at the Gorton Works.

Here are the two locomotives heading north through the Aberglaslyn Pass towards Beddgelert and then onwards to Caernarfon.
