Grumpy Old Man

A pretty corner of Argyll

I went down to Ardmaddy Castle this morning to discuss preparations for holding the Scottish Wildlife Trust's local fund-raising day there on the 24th May. The owners have kindly agreed to let us use the garden and some of the outbuildings. The sun was out earlier but as I came away and stopped on the road to take a picture, the sky clouded over. So what's new!

Built as a medieval tower house in the 15th century, Ardmaddy has been much modified over the centuries, with a number of additions being made and several later removed. The garden has a good collection of rhododendrons and other spring flowering plants, a productive vegetable garden and a more recently added Japanese garden. Opens under Scotland's Gardens.
