Booth Museum

For various reasons I found myself at the Booth Museum today - Brighton's extraordinary tribute to the Victorian natural history craze - and especially the taxidermy craze. It's a weird place - cabinets of stuffed birds, many of them nearly 150 years old, with more recent displays of skeletons and butterflies. I think I can confidently say there is nowhere else that I know of remotely like it.

There are no dinosaurs - except in the shop. There is a dodo though - or rather bones from several dodos mounted together.

For once I found myself completely undecided between two photos to blip. I went with this one my the merest whisker - but only because the other one can be seen here should anyone be interested.
