On the Runway

Lots of weather around today - showers (including hail), bright sunshine, and steadily increasing winds as the day went on. The ferry south left three hours early to avoid the worst of the winds around Shetland this evening.

The waves were breaking high over the west end of the runway, during one of the sunshine spells.

Finally made it back up onto Fitful Head this afternoon, it's the highest point at the south end of the Shetland, and the winds were extremely entertaining - took a selection of pictures to add the collection of 'west-side' images I've been gathering over the last few weeks - but the view certainly didn't look like this today. Will add some of the picture from today elsewhere later.

It is slightly un-nerving to feel the wind lift you off your feet, when you're close to the edge of a 700 ft drop. :--)
