Between a rock cake and a not very hard place

I have this picture in my head of holidays, it's always the same: coming downstairs and putting on the kettle, early in the morning (half past six today) and pulling on some warm socks and reading the paper with a cup of tea. Knowing, smugly and happily, that for a few days you don't have to get up early and start thinking about deadlines.

So that's how it was today, an exceptionally good day, with particular highs being TSM's home made rock cakes, Arsenal winning on penalties in the FA cup, and finishing Kate Atkinson's Life After Life, which I really enjoyed.

Aaaah ... bliss.
