Crown of Thorns

Growing up in Linlithgow, the tower and crown of St Michael's Church has dominated my skyline for years. Every time I see it I think of home. In school, and beyond, I have reproduced this crown so many times and in so many ways - pencil(s), ink, all kinds of paint, tapestry ... and of course photographs.

Today it caught my eye shining in the sunlight, and, with Easter approaching, it brought to mind it's symbolism of Christ's crown of thorns and the words of the hymn:

"The Head that once was crowned with thorns
Is crowned with glory now,"
