Day 102: Approaching Greystone

The view as you approach the old Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Parsippany, NJ. Originally opened on August 17, 1876, the hospital was known as the New Jersey State Lunatic Asylum at Morristown. The asylum officially received the familiar Greystone Park name in 1924. This historic, 675,000-square foot Kirkbride Building is slated to be torn down even though citizens of Morris County and surrounding areas formed a Preserve Greystone society to try and save the building.

A few more of my photos from Greystone can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.602318093195563.1073741852.218017931625583&type=1

A movie trailer about the building and the attempt to preserve it can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuZ6PvIuPhU
