Bolton's Bench in Lyndhurst

Today we took the children to Lyndhurst, and visited Bolton's Bench.

Bolten's Bench commemorates the Duke of Bolton, who was the 18th Century master keeper of the new forest. At the top of the site sits a giant yew tree, pictured in the centre of my photograph. Slightly to the left you will see the spire of St. Michael's and All Angels Church in Lyndhurst town centre.

The view from the top is beautiful.

We spent some time under the yew tree, then ventured across the grassy lawn where the new forest ponies graze.
