Elderberry Flowers

I was out at the Florida Native Plant Nursery helping a client select butterfly plants for a circular garden she wants to add to her front yard. It is centered by a bird bath and we were selecting many different plants to attract different butterflies. Many of the native plants attract butterflies, bees or hummingbirds or all three! The Elderberry bush, which is really more tree than bush, is a lovely understory planting material and adds some vertical definition to gardens along with some lovely flowers and fruits. Elderberry wine is for real! The birds also love the berries. I am always so enchanted by their lovely white flowers. So it was a hard decision as to which flower got to be the blip of the day! There were so many to choose from, but I think the Elderberry is one of the prettiest!
