'Fiery Evening Sky'

A day of defects inspections for me today. Starting at 8am this morning out at La Trobe University, we have just finished a refurbishment of a Physical Sciences Research facility across 2 levels. It was the first project in the 15 years or so that we have been doing work at the University that the builders actually had everything totally complete for our inspection, and to a very high standard too. I had to write a letter to the building company to thank and congratulate them on a job well done which is pretty rare these days.

A quick call in to the office to check emails and send my checklist back to the builders and then out to Brighton to complete a defects report for a new house that we have been working on for a couple of years. There is still quite a few items to be completed, but our clients were keen to move in today and be sleeping there for the first time tonight. The building surveyor didn't arrive until after 3pm so it was touch and go whether we would have a certificate of occupancy before the end of the day. Luckily everything was compliant with all of the regulations and he was able sign off on it. Another house that we will be very proud to have been involved with. The clients have asked us back for a celebratory drink with them once the dust settles a bit and Easter is out of the way. I've uploaded a shot here if anyone is interested
