100 days to go........

I got the train into Glasgow this morning and it was so good to have sunshine and blue skies for a change.

At Glasgow Central Station I could not help notice the huge Longines Commonwealth Clock showing 100 days until the opening ceremony of the Games in July. Also within the main concourse of the station is a large temporary store selling merchandise in connection with the Games in Glasgow.

Glad to hear that the Commonwealth Games organisers have finally seen sense and dropped the demolition of the Red Road flats from the Glasgow 2014 opening ceremony.

Five of the blocks were to be brought down at the start of the Games in July.

The plan proved controversial, with an online petition against the demolition gathering more than 17,000 signatures.

On BBC Scotland this morning, Glasgow's former Lord Provost, Michael Kelly said that it would have made a lot more sense at the opening ceremony to celebrate our wonderful Victorian Heritage and especially the remarkable work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
