Haweswater

Haweswater reservoir, taken from the northern end.

Apparently, when it was built in the 1940's, to supply Manchester's water, it took two years to fill. The water runs the 100 miles to the city purely by the power of gravity, no pumps required. That's what it said on the information board at any rate.
