112 strawberry plants later ......

Today we had a good session at the allotment. I am never enthralled with the idea of toiling away in the fields but the rewards are substantial, particularly since we have decided not to do many vegetables but to plant soft fruit for jams, cordials and just for eating.

After a neighbouring allotment owner rotovated our smallish plot we covered it with weed suppressant material, pegged it so it doesn't get blown (100 long tent pegs from ebay!) and then cut crosses in the material and replanted 112 strawberry plants. We are going to plant onion sets and a couple of other things as well.
Another lovely allotment neighbour has given us a blackcurrant bush, we've got the raspberry bushes that we inherited from the previous owner and at home we've got blueberry, raspberry and red currant bushes, as well as the normal rhubarb, strawberries, parsley, lettuce and rocket.
Nothing too taxing, but everything delicious.
