OV chipkaart

The OV chipkaart is the new electronic ticketing system for public transport in the Netherlands. It is like the Navigo in Paris and the Oyster card in London. Eventually it will replace the paper-based system and in particular the strippenkaart. In the last few months space-age-like check-in points have been appearing all over the Netherlands. These check-in points are easy to identify by the lurid pink glow that surrounds them. If you have managed to miss these colour sensations, then every 30 seconds in the main railway stations in the Netherlands, you will be reminded by a mechanical lady not to forget to check-in AND out when you leave the train or bus....
