Any ideas?

Of what this plant is? It is by the road at the front of our (other) house in the south west. I have included what appears to be the four stages of the fruit/seed pod.

We now have 3 weeks (at least) down here - which is wonderful, but no wifi and intermittent 3/4G.............sigh.
