This is at West Wemyss Castle, Fife.

The seaward wall supposedly dates from the time this castle (fortified house) was built in the 16th Century. It is topped by a chain of arched openings containing iron grids. Some are obviously modern replacements (very crudely made) but others are highly corroded and I wonder if they too could possibly date from the 16th C. as well?

This is one of the far more interesting corroded grilles.
