Rubbing Shoulders with Royalty....

.....as you do.

I was a bit ambivalent about taking the grandchildren to try and glimpse the royal couple in the Blue Mountains today. Was it worth queuing up and battling the crowds?

We decided to try our luck and John dropped Elizabeth and me off near Echo Point 10 minutes before the ETA while he took Hugh to find something more "boy fun" to do. Well they drove past within 5 minutes and we got a reasonable distant view, despite an empty bus which decided to park between the crowd and royal getaway car and someone who insisted taking photos on her iPad in front of us, completely obscuring the view of anyone behind.

We left, rather pleased with ourselves, and met John and Hugh who had discovered quite accidentally the unpublicised spot they were apparently departing from. It was conveniently located at a park with a playground so the kids were happy to hang around for 45 minutes or so and there was only a small crowd. We got a really good view of them this time and saw them board the helicopter and depart which the children declared the most exciting thing anyway.

PS. Had it been MMonday I could have blipped mono transport bearing the an heir to the throne (and his wife).
