It was a beautiful sunrise today as we made our way out to the shanty for opening day of sturgeon spiring. The hubby and I being first timers, we left all the heavy lifting to the old pro (AKA my dad). It was a fun morning of fooding (we brought enough to feed a small army), good conversation, and relaxation as we all huddled over the hole in anticipation of seeing our target. There was a bit of excitement when dad saw a large, dark shadow glide across the very furthest corner of the hole, and in one swift motion he was up and throwing the spear in hopes of getting our first sturgeon of the year. Sadly, the sturgeon lived to swim another day, but we'll be back for him next year!
