Ben .....

...... in Leeds market.

This morning I had a trip in to Leeds for a wander around the market to do a bit of shopping and take a few photos. I also bought a painting by local Leeds artist Oliver Neilson.

This afternoon I went in to Bradford for a look around the Only in England exhibition of photos by Tony Ray Jones and Martin Parr. I'll be visiting lots more times before the exhibition closes in June.

I stopped in Bradford for a photo talk at the Fuse gallery in the evening. The talk was entitles Ukraine, two photographic perspectives.

The first photographer was Tim Smith who after photographing the Ukrainian community in Bradford ( many of whom had emigrated here after the end of the second world war ) wend to visit the Ukraine in the late 80s and early 90s and photographed the country as it gained Independence.

The second photographer was Christopher Nunn who's grandmother had emigrated to the UK from the Ukraine. Christopher had gone back to the town that his grandmother had come from to document it and had found himself there as the current crisis started.

It's been a fascinating evening and I've learnt a lot about the history of the Ukraine and how that is having an impact on events happening there now.

I didn't take any photos in Bradford this evening but took a few in Leeds earlier, including this portrait of Ben. We had a chat about his tattoos and ben told me he used to be a Psychobilly but now tat his hair was thinning and going grey he didn't really have the look anymore, So today's blip is .....
