Good Friday

Good Friday...or Statue Friday. Take your pick.

The 3 people in this shot:
1. Joseph. There was a man named Joseph. He was from Arimethea, a Jewish town, and he looked expectantly for the reign of God. Luke 23: 50-51. He asked, and was granted the right to help Christ carry the cross.

2. Jesus. Then Jesus, offering a loud cry...breathed his last. Mark 16: 37. Christ died.

3. Mary. Seeing his mother there with the disciple whom he loved, Jesus said to his mother..."Woman, there is your son." In turn, he said to the disciple..."There is your mother." John 19:26-27. Mary had to watch her son die.

A local cemetery has quite a few statues (probably 7 or 8.) This one seemed fitting for this Easter week. I could take this opportunity to preach for about 20 minutes...but...I think I'll pass.

Had a nice walk at the state park with Shelley-Naturelover today. Hills and lakes and fungi and muddy low spots. As we were gingerly tight-roping over thin branches laid out to get through the mud...I said..."Balance is a terrible thing to lose." (We both stayed on our feet.)

A Good Friday, and a good walk. Hike on over to my FLICKR PAGE for some close-ups of the statue. God bless.
