Duck, Mote Park

Went with Barbara and David to The Village this morning as fitness centre had a "bring a friend for free day" They went swimming while we did our usual Friday gym session. Mind you, the benefits of swimming and the gym were negated by the coffee we enjoyed afterwards.

After a late lunch - owing to the coffee - we took Doreen around Mote Park in her wheelchair. This was the first time she had been around the Park for several years and she seemed to enjoy the experience, seeing views and aspects of the Park she'd forgotten about. Three willing pushers too, as there are some steep sections of the path which required a further engine at the rear of the pusher to get up the gradient.

This duck was posing on the banks of the lake where we were sitting in some lovely sunshine - what I really like about it, apart from the duck and its expression is the pattern of the water around the duck.

Called in at the allotment on the way back from Mote Park to collect some rhubarb which I used to make a rhubarb tarte tatin. Makes a lot of juice does rhubarb, so I spooned some off and then left it too long in the pan before putting the pastry on. As a result the caramelised rhubarb was just a little too caramelised, but fortunately not quite burned.
