Perfection

A beautiful sunny day from the start. After breakfast we drove to Aberdour in Fife - a coastal village with most things you could wish for - two beaches, amazing views out to sea and to Edinburgh, a castle, and islands just off the coast (one with a beautiful little church - just visible in this photo). We sat on the beach in the sun - it was very peaceful with a few families playing in the sand and in the rock pools, and people walking along the beach. It seemed a timeless scene. For lunch we'd booked to eat at the 'Room with a View' restaurant. The restaurant also operates as a small hotel and is located on the shore but in a little glade of woodland. It has its own pier as in the 1880s steam boats ran from Leith across the firth to Fife and dropped passengers at the hotel (which was apparently famous for its sea salt spa). We had a splendid lunch of fresh sea food . As we left people were sitting in the garden eating scones, jam and cream ...they looked very tempting however we thought we better return another day to sample those!
