Delta scene #11: a change in the weather

Yesterday was hot and sunny: we went on a drive around Els Ports, the massif inland from the delta. S has been walking here a couple of times and spotted some interesting looking places. Sadly, when we got closer they weren't as interesting as they looked. We stopped for lunch at an asador (carvery) next to a reservoir. The place looked good from the outside, but inside it had a self-service area like the ones in motorway service stations, and hordes of yelling kids and barking dogs. But the central log fire where they were roasting meat and vegetables to order looked good. S ordered a massive chuletón (beef steak) to share. We spent most of the short time we were in there speculating on how a slab of meat grilled over an open wood fire could be rendered so utterly tasteless, dry, and without texture. As an ex-vegetarian I don't eat meat often, so when I do I want it to be good, and this failed dismally. It has to be said that none of the meat we've bought here has been good, but it hasn't bothered us because we've been living on wonderful fish and seafood.

By the time we got back to Riumar, it had clouded over, and it rained during the night. Today has been a quiet day at home as S is feeling a bit off colour (nothing to do with the steak, I'm sure). We have had some moments of sunshine, but it's been mostly cloudy. I did catch a few brief moments of light over the rice paddies, but they weren't as luminous as I'd hoped. I still had difficulty choosing; alternative blips are here and here.
