The Roundhouse

This is the Roundhouse in Footdee in Aberdeen, it was the former Harbour Master's Station for Aberdeen Harbour and was built in 1798 and is octagonal in shape.

Harbour traffic was originally controlled by a signal involving three black balls mounted on a mast on the roof, this was removed in 1966 when the roof was raised to incorporate the new control tower.

The Roundhouse fell from use in 2006 when the new Marine Operations Centre opened nearby but the building has been refurbished and is now office accommodation.

Glorious day in Aberdeen and the beach and harbour area were absolutely chocca with people out enjoying it.
