Heading Home

Sadly it was the last day of our road trip today. Our last leg took us from Goulburn to Matts house in Hillside. I took a number of photos of the beautiful scenery passing us by on the way while Jon crocheted, Matt drove and we all talked.

After about an hour of driving we realised that the petrol tank was dangerously close to empty. No problem right, just stop off at the next petrol station. Wrong! It turns out there are basically no petrol stations between Goulburn and Gundagai. Thanks to Jon and his phone we were able to track down a petrol station just off the track. This was after we had already driven about twenty kilometres after the petrol light had come on. It was closed. Closed! There was nothing left to do but head for Gundagai as my pessimism battled against Jonathan and Matthews optimism that we were going to make it. They turned out to be right as after about another thirty kilometres we made it.

Later we all enjoyed a fantastic bakery lunch at a stopover in Glenrowan surrounded by all the Ned Kelly memorabilia the town features. We got a bit held up in traffic as we headed back to Melbourne and got back to Matts at about four.

The trip was over, and while it was literally four days in a car for one day at a festival it was an incredibly great holiday. It just shows that the most important part of having a good time is the company...and some sweet tunes don't hurt either.

I've also back blipped for all the days in the trip and suggest you check them out as we did get to see some really great scenery.
