Gorse

We went for a walk in Holyrood Park. No sun but it's still the holidays and we feel fine. It's the Queen's birthday today. We didn't hear the 21 gun salute fired from Edinburgh Castle, but we did see the smoke.

Gorse is one of my favourite wild flowers. The scent is delicious, the colour a kind of ecstasy and, best of all, it's a sure herald of summer.
