For Alexanders

Alexanders are a Mediterranean plant that was introduced in to the British Isles by the Romans.

How it came to be in the Isle of Man is a mystery. However here it is, like a Roman legion, marching down the verge to meet me.

It likes a maritime climate and all parts of it are reputed to be edible.

I have yet to meet anyone who has actually eaten it. It is an invasive plant and so no doubt in future we will dine on little else.
