Feel the Power

Standing on the edge of the track at the North Cotswold Hunt Point to Point meeting this afternoon, made you in awe of the power of the horses as they thundered past. The noise of the hooves on turf, mud and clods flying in all directions was incredibly exciting. It never ceases to amaze me how strong horses legs are especially when they are so thin and look quite fragile in part.

Fabulous views over the green rolling hills, cars galore, picnics, chairs and tables heaving with gastronomic delights parked behind nearly every car - a real family day out. The sun was out and the going was good.

Just to clarify ... a Point to Point is an amateur steeplechase for thoroughbred horses run usually over 3 miles. In Paxford it is an annual event held on the land of Bank Farm by permission of the owner Mrs Adams. There is a Tote for a small flutter, a few food stands, bars and children's entertainment. Everyone seemed to have a dog although we didn't take ours as Tilly would have barked and woofed all afternoon!!

Lovely to see at the finish of each race how the horses were taken care of in the ring which included buckets of water thrown over over their backs - you could sense they just loved it by the way they strutted and held their ears.

A great day and such fun I can't believe how fast the time just galloped away :))
