holidays III

Off to the west coast today to see +1/2's parents, lunch then a trip to Portencross to take a look at the castle.

I used to cycle down to Portencross during the summer when I was a teenager - no mean feat when you consider a) how crap my bike was, b) it's 10 miles and c) it's 10 miles on a pretty busy road. It's a nice spot: there's a wee beach and a castle that was always closed off. Over the last couple of years, however, the land was bought from BNFL and the castle conserved and opened.

Inside the castle they've kept the door that used to cover the main entrance - a nice touch as it's covered in carvings of initials from the people who visited over the years.

Very windy but warm (18C!) with hazy views to Arran (just about) and Wee Cumbrae (which is the above).

In other news: we spotted the ISS as it passed over tonight.
