The wonderful Bennet's bar.

Pictured behind the bar, about a third in from the right and just over half way down is a wee brass elf. It used to be attached to a pillar by the door (the hole is still visible) and had a gas supply through the back of it and was permanently lit so a gentleman could light his cheroot or cigarette by. Many years ago it was stolen by some Tollcross ruffians. Many years later still it was found by the then manager, Andrew Knight, in an antique shop in, if memory serves, Portobello. He bought it and re-attached it to the wall sans gas supply. People rub it for luck.

I was telling this story to my acquaintances when Mr Knight walked in. That's his baldy pate lower left.
