First Poppies of Spring

These two poppies appeared on the back wall this morning. Of course they've probably been there for a few days and I haven't noticed them. In another day or so, they should open to reveal their yellow flowers but in the meantime black and white is ok. We took the opportunity to skip through to Penrith for some shopping and tried our best to avoid getting soaked in the rain. Had a good conversation with the lady behind the cheese counter at Morrisons. She's very knowledgeable and let us taste some Old Amsterdam Gouda. Needless to say we bought a chunk of it as it was absolutely lovely. On her advice, we'll be toasting some on bread from the bread man who does the Thursday market. Can't wait!
