On Tuesday afternoon we went to visit the long man of Wilmington, he's to be found on the chalky South Downs, not far from Eastbourne. It was a lovely day so we walked up the hill to see all his magnificent 70 metres! Originally thought be be from the Iron Age, now archaeologists think he may date from the 16th or 17th century. No matter his age, he really is a fabulous sight to see and the view from the hill is wonderful, especially at this time of year with the vast yellow fields of rapeseed are growing.
We had a Ploughmans lunch at a hotel in Alfriston village afterwards, and a sample of the Long man Brewery beer (recommended!)

The kids and I then had a wander in the village, and decided that it was indeed warm enough to have an ice cream. I snapped this pic of the two of them sitting on a fence, enjoying the fresh air, freedom and view, Amber has her arm around Elise and it made me feel very happy to see them getting along so well!
