Last Tree Standing

OK, not the very last. But the notion of this "Tree Protection Zone" around one of the last remaining trees on the City road allowance near the property under development, with its stern warnings about what could happen to ordinary folks who disturbed the tree, did strike me as a little ironic. After all, the City (minus my Councilwoman who put up a valiant effort on our behalf) was pretty non-plussed by the 110 other trees (including four City trees) that the developer has demolished.
