Our little harbour

This is part of the harbour at Playa Santiago, a sleepy village most of the time but a scene of much activity last autumn for 5 weeks.  Our island was picked as a location for part of the shooting of the film "In the heart of the Sea" which is due to be released next March and stars Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy and Tom Holland and is directed by Ron Howard.  We were enthralled as we saw a whaling boat which had sailed from the UK change to the Whaleship, Essex before our eyes.  They brought a load of vans from the UK and we watched as various bits of local scenery were given a facelift.  Neither of us are great film watchers but we will be looking out for this one to see which bits we recognise.  It gave a much needed boost to the local economy. Lots of the locals were taken on as extras and many were given jobs helping out.
