Lark ascending

I'm astonished that the camera on my smart phone managed to capture this little skylark which fluttered out of the wheat field adjacent to me and rapidly ascended (it is level with, and to the right of the sun), singing sweetly, before plummeting to its nest again in silence. Admittedly, zooming in on the image, it's a rather abstract little cross formed of one black and a dozen or so grey pixels which might be mistaken for dust on the screen!
The song was exquisite ...
