Yellow...

I spent many happy years working with lifeguards - their yellow shirts and red shorts were a welcome sign around the busy pool. It meant everything would be ok. Poorly paid but, in my experience, well trained and highly skilled, it's a very noble profession. I've seen them save lives.

Spotted on the beach today in Fuerteventura - it seems yellow is the universal colour of safety.

Next time you're in the pool - or on the beach - stop and thank the lifeguards, prepared to put themselves in danger for our safety and enjoyment.
