Third Year Abroad

After weeks of trying to get tickets which weren't for June, I'd finally managed to get tickets for the Last Supper (seriously, they're like gold dust). So took I took Tara and we headed to Santa Maria delle Grazie, there church where it was painted which is really quite beautiful. Before entering the room with the painting there's quite a bit of information about how the painting has been damaged over the years (I mean what were they thinking when they inserted a door in the middle of a DaVinci?) and what they do to try and keep it restored. For example, entering is far more complex than you might think due to the series of airlock doors and once you're inside you only have 15 minutes before you're called out again. Still, it was pretty amazing and for someone who's primary knowledge of the painting comes from The DaVinci Code they have a decent amount of slightly more factual information (although I still think it does look like a woman to Jesus' left). After our allotted time we headed back towards the centre to have lunch at the top of the Rinascente which overlooks the Duomo. We even managed to get a table in the sun after slightly irritating the concierge by doing a bit of table swapping. Unsurprisingly this was followed by more shopping, including another successful trip to Brandy Melville. Then the Armani Nobu for dinner, the Armani here is like the mothership it has its own hotel, club, restaurant, cafe... You name it. Dinner was even finished with Armani brand chocolates..
