Day Twelve

The Price of Development

Out for a walk this morning and came across the clearing of a slum/ghetto of Paynsevile in Monrovia.

The place was full of riot police and an enormous digger that was just flattening everything. The people that live here have no other homes to go and were pleading with the police not take their homes away.

As you can see from the photo the police were not adverse to using their batons.

I eventually had to leave as I found it all a bit upsetting. Everything that you see in this photo will be gone by this evening
