Fallow Stag (1330hrs)

It was one of those days it just couldn't get any better ,out with my good cobber and our two dogs going for a hunt . Hadn't seen much for the first couple of hours just spooked two in thick bush them trixie winded one in the swede crop but we weren't quick enough so we made our way back to the ute to have some lunch thought we find a bit of shade for the dogs and made our way to some trees sat down then thought I better have a look over the rise we were sitting on and there was one hind just coming out of the bush forget lunch it was game on my cobber shot back to get his rifle and when he got back there was a stag and 3 or 4 hinds we both line up and then counted down bang 2 on the ground then reload bang I was pretty sure my cobber had shot another one but couldn't see it .Time for the dogs to go to work trixe was on to it straight away and brooke right behind her and then about 50m into the bush trixie found it down a bank and underneath some pungas we would have never have seen it ,so that made a great day one stag two hinds and blokes having fun .
