Hakuba, via Jigokudani Monkey Park

Our first full day in Japan, after landing yesterday afternoon and spending the night in Tokyo.

We trained it up to Nagano, before hiring a car and setting on our way to Hakuba for three days. On the way we stopped off in the mountains where some hot springs attract these ridiculously cool snow monkeys.

There were hundreds of them, just strolling past around, right past your feet, not a care in the world. We weren't quite as relaxed, having discovered that (apparently) a monkey had attacked a visitor the week before.
