Yorkshire Steam Fair

The Yorkshire Steam Fair was taking place this weekend at the North York Moors Railway.

This is the train driver of Bittern waiting to be given the signal to set off from Pickering.

Bittern is a member of the LNER A4 Class of Locomotives, designed by Sir Nigel Gresley to haul the fastest express passenger service from London to York and beyond in the 1930s.

Bittern is sister to the record breaking Mallard (speed record for the fastest steam locomotive) and also Sir Nigel Gresley, named after the designer of the train.

Bittern holds the record for the fastest steam locomotive in preservation achieving 92.6mph in 2013.

The steam fair continues next week if anyone is interested.
