Elusive Magpie

I’ve been trying to get a magpie moth for months. Very few appear here, and when they do they flutter erratically about four metres above the ground. This one was resting in the warmth of my greenhouse. When I looked up its binomial name I found that there are two magpie moth species and I don’t know if this one is the Australian Nyctemera amicus or the endemic New Zealand Nyctemera annulata. Both fly in the daytime.

A beautiful blue dome day with bright sunshine. The mountains are looking magnificent , well covered in snow to halfway down.
