List of Quakers buried in Wincanton

This memorial plaque is just inside the Wincanton Quaker Meeting House (Somerset, England). The graves are now covered by a garden.

Most seem to have died after a long life - only a few died very young.

The Bracher family are prominent - we used to take our dog to see a nice vet called Dr Bracher when we lived in Rondebosch, Cape Town, but it was not until we had moved back to Street that I learnt, via a Quaker friend who knew his mother-in-law, that he was one of the Wincanton family! A nineteenth century Bracher married a Morland who was cousin of the Clarks, so our vet was a distant relative-by-marriage of mine!
