Damp

It was the kind of damp and cold that soaks right through to the bone. My head was pounding, and taxes were due.

But we are over the hump of the week. Tomorrow is Thursday and, at least by the calendar, it will be May.

This is the Dominion Public Building on Front Street, a formerly stately building which now stands largely empty on a torn-up street.
