Corfe Castle: footpath on east of castle mound

The castle's ruined east walls lead up to a glimpse of the remains of the gloriette at the top of the mound. The thickness of the castle's enclosing walls and the steepness of the mound ensured that it was never taken by assault or siege.

To the far right is an arched stone railway bridge on Swanage Railway's track between Corfe Castle and Norden stations.

Another photograph taken in light rain.
