MayDay

May Day is a public holiday in Austria and many people make day trips around the country. No shops are open but there is always somewhere to have a meal or a drink. Hubby decided to take a day off from renovating so we headed to Waldreichs Castle which is home to the Austrian Falconry and Bird of Prey Centre. It is still carrying on the ancient tradition of falconry with flight demonstrations, falconer training, a falconry museum and an owl park. Unfortunately, I didn´t get any decent action shots of the birds during the show so had to be content with a pale and interesting shot of the castle. There is an artefact floating in front of one of the windows. It was only in this shot and the previous one so I guess it was something floating past the lens. I like to think it is a ghost - the castle site dates back to 1258 although not much of the original castle remains.
