Angelica archangelica - a name made for poetry. Most of us know it for its candied stems but the plant is so worth growing at the back of a border just for its ornamental value. It's meant to need shade or partial shade but in Carol & Alan's garden it's in full sun and thriving. It's also meant to be one for experienced gardeners but Carol just planted it last year, forgot it was there and woosh, up it soared this spring. Plants don't always do what they're told ....
