Abbey House - under construction

Abbey House, on the site of Sherlock Holmes's 221B Baker Street was the headquarters of the Abbey National Building Society from 1932 to 2002.

When Abbey moved out, the site was redeveloped as luxury flats while retaining the iconic tower.

This photo from 2006 shows the work in progress and how the tower was propped up as a new building was wrapped round it.
