Waiting for the ferry

Went to Oban today to visit the library and decided to pop over to Kerrera for a picnic. Unfortunately we missed the ferry by a couple of minutes so had a stand-up picnic on the Gallanach jetty instead.

Half an hour later we were on board where I had a brief conversation with a young man from Pennsylvania, who was 'doing' Scotland in four days! We were soon across and had a pleasant wander among the sheep. While waiting for the return ferry we were passed by the 'Hebridean Isles' returning down the Sound of Kerrera from Colonsay and Islay, and in the distance spotted the 'Isle of Mull' returning from Craignure to Oban and the 'Clansman' setting off for Coll, Tiree and Barra. As we drove into Oban, the little ferry was coming in from Lismore, probably the 'Eigg'. Oban certainly is the Gateway to the Isles!
