What's in a name.

Geraniums and Pelargoniums have different numbers of stamen.
Geraniums have symmetrial flowers and Pelargoniums exhibit bilateral symmetry.
Geraniums 'fling' their seeds. Pelargonium seeds have feathery ends that assist them float away.
